Akeena Solar Mayor's Cup Challenge

Akeena Solar is proud to present the Second Annual Mayor's Cup Challenge as part of the Fifth Annual Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot. As we, the community, grow more sustainably and strive for a healthier lifestyle, we look to our leaders for support and echo the changes we want to see in the world.

With Akeena Solar’s “Mayor’s Cup Challenge” we give our leaders an opportunity to get involved with us and show their support to many great causes. Not to mention, the Turkey Trot provides a perfect course in which our leaders have the chance to challenge cross-county rivals in a spirited competition.

After categorizing each City and/or town into 4 groups based on population, City Council Officials can gain points as seen below.

Participation by Mayor or Vice Mayor (or Pres & Vice Pres) (10 points each)

Participation by the City/Town Manager (5 Points)

Participation by a Councilmember (4 points each)

Participation by a Member of the Planning Commission (2 points each)

There’s no better way to strengthen a community than by getting together on Thanksgiving morning and racing for great causes. There’s also no better way for a Santa Clara City or Town to gain bragging rights than with a Mayor’s Cup Challenge trophy! Akeena Solar hopes to see you there and can’t wait to award the winning communities in our beautiful Santa Clara County.
