We would like to extend an invitation to your talented band and/or cheer team to join the Silicon Valley Leadership Group for our 9th annual Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5K and 10K race on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2013. Last year, mile markers were an exciting new addition to the race, and each mile featured the performances of a high school band or cheer team.
This presents an exciting opportunity for your marching band and/or cheer team to contribute in making this a successful community event while also raising school funds. All funds from the Turkey Trot will benefit the Santa Clara County Children’s Health Initiative, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County. Each school participating in the mile markers will receive a $500 donation. Participating students are also eligible for volunteer credit, will receive a free sweatshirt and food on the day of the race. The only time commitment is on the actual day of November 28th: volunteer check-in will be at 6:30 a.m. and mile marker performances will be roughly from 7:50-9:30 a.m. depending on the mile. There is a minimum of 15 participants for cheer teams and 10 for high school bands.
We are accepting applications from 6 cheer teams and 3 high school bands. Schools can have both a cheer team and band participate. Due to the limited space, sign-ups are on a first-come first-serve basis. Additional event details are available at www.svturkeytrot.com. If your school would like to participate, please RSVP to Nell Triplett at ntriplett@svlg.org or 408-501-7883 by October 15th so that we may send you an agreement.
